Join us in Calgary for #BlueGreenAB17

Wednesday, September 27th Blue Green Canada is hosting our second Just Transition and Good Green Jobs for Alberta event.

This year we will be in Calgary the Ramada Plaza Downtown. This day-long event is modeled after last year’s successful event in Edmonton last year. We will again bring together workers, labour representatives, environmental and community organizations, and other stakeholders to discuss and work through some tough issues related to the phase out of coal-fired electricity generation, what is needed for a just transition, and how to ensure good jobs for Albertans, now and in the future.

Our keynote speaker is Samantha Smith the Director of the International Trade Union Confederation’s Just Transition Centre. Samantha will share best practices from around the globe and discuss how others have managed successful transitions. We will also hear from Gil McGowan, President of the Alberta Federation of Labour, on the Alberta Coal Transition Coalition’s work and where things stand today.

We are gathering to listen and share knowledge on economic transitions and to explore what is needed for successful transitions for Alberta and Canada. For this event to succeed we need YOUR input and participation!  Everyone is welcome.
